        What is Bronze?

Bronze is a metal alloy that has been around for thousands of years. It was around 700 BC that the Romans advanced the use of bronze for many applications including weaponry, armor, furniture, cooking utensils and statuary used to memorialize athletes and heroes. Over the centuries bronze has been phased out for many of these applications except for memorialization and art. Bronze is the most popular metal for cast metal sculptures; a cast bronze sculpture is often called simply a "bronze". A natural characteristic of bronze is that upon oxidation, it forms a greenish patina that is most desired among artists. Bronze has wonderful benefits for creating a timeless gift or memorial. First – the casting process allows intricate  details and fine artwork to be incorporated into the designs. Second - bronze is a very durable alloy.  Bronze is very good at maintaining its shape for centuries and therefore makes an excellent medium for even the harshest of outdoor conditions and will be virtually unchanged except for the coloring. Third - current manufacturing techniques have  made bronze an affordable option for gifts and timeless keepsakes treasured by many art collectors. Additionally, recent technology now makes it possible to take photographs and create a bronze sculpture that captures life's finest and most precious memories. Memoralizing Our Heroes...

        Picture
In days past – even as late as the 1990s – options for memorializing your loved one, was  usually very limited. The word memorialize, according to the dictionary definition, means to: record lastingly with a monument. Pondering that definition brings up an intriguing question of philosophy and psychology. Why do we memorialize things and people?

Apparently, it is thought to be common sense that all of humanity has an innate desire, even emotional need; to stay connected with itself through the ages. To want to be remembered and to want to remember is, it seems, as natural a part of  being human as are eating, drinking and sleeping. To memorialize a  loved-one is usually a healthy part of the typical grieving process and is a natural  human tradition. It is no  wonder then, that beauty and elegance are the key ingredients in every memorial  structure. Even the simplest of sculptures, are designed to maintain their elegant look for centuries. Because of the infinite connection that each human has with each member of humanity (past, present, and future) memorials are not just for the famous. No one would likely argue that it is every mans natural right to be memorialized even if the structure is just a simple, but very special, sculpture. At the Brad Samuelson Studio we give you a wonderful way to capture a loved one.....  with a bronze heirloom to pass down from generation to
        generation.

Creating a Memorial or Keepsake of Your Best Friend with a Pet Sculpture...

        Picture
Pet sculptures are a comforting symbol of a families love for its beloved friend. They serve as an eternal reminder of  special times with their pet – pets often  treasured as much as other members of the family. Pet owners often swell with emotion over the thought of wanting to capture their special memories of their beloved friend for the ages, in a perfectly fitting bronze pet sculpture.
A bronze sculpture can become a spiritually uplifting symbol in which smiles  and laughter (tearful though they may be) abound as family members look upon it  on special occasions (or even just at random times when they feel they need an  emotional lift). “Having my pets ashes on a shelf in my home became a depressing experience for me, because it would be a constant reminder of  his death. But being able to wake up with a smile on a beautiful morning  and see our bronze sculpture in honor of our pet, gave me an emotional  boost that would last for days. Celebrating his life instead of mourning his  death made a huge difference for me, and our memory of our beloved friend captured in bronze makes it  easy for me to do the former,” one bronze sculpture owner commented. Here at the Brad Samuelson Studios we are very well versed in capturing the timeless admiration pet owners have for their pets, you could say it's our "specialty". Sculptures can be made any size but many pet owners like to have thier pets captured in life size. Sculptures are mounted on marble and the highest quality oak or walnut  base, customized to your preferences. Personalized plaques can also be made and mounted on the marble base to complete your keepsake. All of us at Brad Samuelson Studios, look forward to hearing from you and working with you on your priceless creation.
